Maths and English Teacher
Having taught in mainstream education throughout her career, Caroline is a true primary expert in both Maths and English. Her focus is years 3 - 6, where she uses questioning and answering skills to untangle misconceptions and rebuild children's understanding and confidence if they just "don't get it". She matches practical, visual and aural methods to her pupils' individual learning styles, to help them achieve their full potential. Most importantly, she believes her lessons should be FUN. To watch her performing multiplication tables to aerobics and dance is a joy to behold!
Having completed a number of years at the chalk face of leading local prep schools, Jeremy spent a number of years running a Tuition Centre in Dubai. The Centre had an enviable reputation in preparing students for 11+ and Common Entrance and Jeremy was one of the prime reasons for their maths success. He is a truly superb teacher, showing passion and humour in everything he does. He develops a strong bond with his students and really feeds their enthusiasm for learning. He has a talent for setting people at ease and in helping them rebuild their self confidence and self esteem. Jeremy teaches maths from year 3-10 and engages the KS2 children in Geography and Extended topic. His recent successes have encompassed developing a forensic understanding of the vehicles/transport used in the Second World War and building an orchestra out of recycled scrap.
Maths has been a central part of Laura's working life; whether as a practising statistician or as a maths teacher. It is a subject which has relevance in many parts of modern life and Laura considers a good understanding of its principles as essential. Laura believes in challenging students to achieve their full potential with a strong emphasis on discussion and collaboration in approaching problems. She encourages students to look at wider aspects of interrelationships between the various topics they study. Above all Laura is determined her students will enjoy maths rather than fear it. Laura works with our KS4 and KS5 students.
A primary expert with extensive degree level knowledge of Biology and Science, Lexi offers the core primary curriculum and Science to KS3. Her bubbly personality is a real hit with the younger students who trust her completely. She shows an artistic and creative flair in her delivery of Humanities and is an expert in a wide range of teaching styles.
Louisa is a truly gifted and inspirational teacher, offering all sciences to GCSE and her specialism of Physics at A level. She is loves helping her students understand ideas they find difficult, rejoicing in the "light bulb" moments when scientific fact suddenly relates to what they are doing in everyday life. Lou makes an effort to ensure practical work is embedded in every lesson and may undertake a number of short demonstrations within one lesson. She is determined no one will ever call her lessons boring! As a past examiner for both GCSE and A level, Lou has a forensic understanding of exam technique and she really enjoys answering "blue sky" questions that encourage the student to think beyond the limitations of the syllabus.
Having committed herself to a career in teaching English, Sally also has a vibrant interest in Citizenship, World Religion and Moral values. To watch her unpick a complex poem with a class is true "poetry in motion". Sally holds level 3 training in working with those with Dyslexia and is a fully qualified trainer in Mindfulness. Her eclectic approach to education offer a breathe of fresh air to the curriculum and her dedication to her community offer inspiration to all.
Stephanie been teaching Spanish and French to children aged between 5 and 18 for nearly twenty years. Although she has high expectations and fill the lessons with activities, her teaching style is relaxed and fun. Vocabulary is often practiced through games and interactive exercises, helping the students to learn quicker and easier. Stephanie is passionate about languages and the countries they are spoken in, and her aim is to inspire and educate our future linguists and give them a love for communicating with other nations.
Tom enjoys teaching Maths and Statistics throughout KS2 to KS5 but has a deep seated love of A-Level Maths and, in particular, Statistics. He believes that maths should be challenging and exciting but not scary and has had wide experience of working with those within the autistic spectrum. He is an extremely calm and consistent teacher who has a magical effect on those with attention disorders and a methodical method of explaining every step. These talents blend with his counselling training to support and enrich his engagement with students who present in unusual ways. Tom has a passion for puzzles and can often be found incorporating fascinating mind benders into his lessons.
Lesley is the miracle worker who ensures our buildings remain safe and wholesome throughout the week. An experienced Grandmother of twelve lively young people, she has a wealth of knowledge and empathy to share with our students.
